Servants in Japan are often looked down upon by regular members of society. The servants in Ikawa's house however were busy reading works by Karl Marx, and had become infuriated with their situation. At last they took action and took the former head of the house as theirs. She was now below a servant, she was their sexual slaves, for them to act out every horrid thought they conceived during all those years working for her. They at last had become the masters, and they were going to take full advantage of the situation.
