She's held to the cargo rings in the back which keeps her relatively still but allows her enough range of movement to entertain the man who watches her fruitless struggles in his rear view mirror. Eventually they reach the destination and he puts the car in neutral allowing it to roll down a hill and to Serene's horror towards a lake.
